When you fight, always try not to get on the ground. When you are on the ground, you can do a lot of things, but still, you are limiting your options. If you read one of my recent posts, we talked about Stick Fighting and Blocking In Filipino Martial Arts - Self Defense Tips. Different martial arts focus on different things.

Jiu-Jitsu experts know exactly what to do for self defense in a ground fight. When someone attacks you, you are not going to say, hey, let's get on the ground and fight. Sometimes it might happen that you are on the ground. Even if you are an expert in the ground fight, you do not like to invite the attackers to fight there.

Let's watch this video. This is not my video, and all video credit goes to DayTripper Films.

Source and Video Credit

In this video, you see the attacker waits outside and later gets into a house. The girl strikes the guy instantly as soon as she sees him. The first strike might not be very powerful, but the second strike is. In case you have not read - Can You Hit The Attacker With That? - Self Defense, you can read this post to understand it better.

The attacker makes her fall on the ground. She did very well defending the strike on the ground. And she moves, gets on the top of him and traps him. Even when you trap the attacker and hold him, he will do his best to get rid of that. He will not lie there and let you do what you want to do.

If you put the attacker on sleep, that is a different story. The sooner you take control of the situation, the better. Then you can call the police or get help from your neighbors. So what would you do in this situation?
