If someone attacks you, sometimes you do not want to hurt him by doing counter-attack. Although attacking is the best defense in some situations, you cannot attack the attacker. Maybe it is your job to stop the attacker and move him out of the spot or arrest him without hurting him.
Welcome back to Self Defense Situation - Part 88. In this series of posts, we usually talk about different situations and what you can do to defend yourself and get back home safe.
When you strike and hurt someone, he will think twice before attacking you. Simply he does not like to attack you anymore because every time he attacks you, it is him who gets hurt. There are some situations where you want to avoid the fight or do not want to hurt the attacker.
So what can you do to defend yourself and at the same time, the attacker will not get hurt that much?
Let's watch this video that shows some moves. All video credit goes to Nick Drossos.
In order to defend yourself, you have to make your move. If you stand there doing nothing, you will get hurt. You can block or parry the attacker's strike and lock him. When you lock, you can put pressure. This is painful. And in this way, you can control him and take him out of there.
You can also defend, and get behind him and grab him. You can grab him in different ways. In this video, it also says to choke the attacker. Well, I would not recommend doing that. You can grab his one hand and grab his chin and turn his face in the opposite direction. Now he cannot do anything and you can move him out of there.
