You are sparring with your training partner or fighting, and you will never get injured, that is not likely to happen. So you might get hurt when you train. But if you are careful, you can avoid stupid injuries.
What you see cool in movies, that might not cool in real life even you see popular martial artist does this. When you train, make sure that you are following the basics. You do not need to open one or two fingers.
It might look good but that's not good from self defense perspective. I even see some instructors open one or two fingers while training or showing something. You do not have iron fingers , do you? If you get hurts, that will be very painful. And you want to avoid stupid mistakes by any cost.
