The Mist

This is another interesting production by Stephen King, and if you know what his guy is usually about, then you know you're in for some action. A quite interesting mystery movie that keeps viewers on the edge of their seat, mainly due to the fact that it raises questions that remain unanswered almost until the end. This is one of the key elements to success when it comes to mystery movies, if you ask me.

However, as you may have noticed, the ratings given are not that attractive, and I think I know what this is all about. The movie ends quite abruptly, but it's not only that. Stephen King is a huge troll, and if you do watch the movie (in case you haven't already), you will find out why I'm saying this in the very last scene. This is one of the movies I will always remember, precisely because of that very last scene.

The Mist is directed by Frank Darabont and Darabont adapts the screenplay from the story of the same name written by Stephen King. It stars Thomas Jane, Marcia Gay Harden, Toby Jones, Laurie Holden and Andre Braugher. Music is by Mark Isham and cinematography by Rohn Schmidt. Residents of a small Maine town become trapped in the local supermarket when an otherworldly mist brings deadly creatures in full attack mode. That's not the only problem, for two groups form inside the market, one in favour of escaping, the other for expiation.

-John Chard

As things start getting creepier and creepier, a small band of the survivors decide to take things into their own hands and set out on a mission to investigate the suspicious fog. They have to find a way out of that place. Unfortunately, this will prove to be a terrible mistake. Time is running out and everything seems to be falling apart. More and more dead bodies begin to pile up. The threat hasn't been identified yet, but it sure has an otherworldly feeling to it.

Eventually, and as there seem to be no roads left, our hero decides to make his move and takes his loved ones out of that grocery store, with the aim to make it to their car and disappear from that creepy grocery story being attacked by all sorts of diabolical creatures. Apparently, the military had been conducting a top secret experiment in the mountains, which accidentally opened a portal to a parallel universe. Well played, Mr. King.

I am not going to spoil the ending, nor am I going to talk about the frustration this movie will give you before it ends. It's a cathartic experience (sarcasm intended, watch the movie and you will understand). Regardless, I would definitely recommend watching this movie, even if you're going to hate me for that.
