Hi people: I would like to share a photograph of the summit of my island: La Palma.
La Palma is like a big mountain with a hole in the middle. This hole is called La Caldera de Taburiente and is a Volcanic Boiler with millions of years old. The summit of the island, where this pic was taken, is called Roque de Los Muchachos and has an altitude of 2.426 meters. From here we can see all the island in clear days.
The Caldera was formed due to the strong thrust that deep magma exerted on some casts by lifting and fracturing them. Subsequently, the rest of the massif disappeared in the depression that is now the Caldera, due to large landslides due to gravity, completed with the erosive effect of the waters. Really it is a magic landscape with only the sound of winds and crows.
At the bottom of the Caldera, there is a National Natural Park with thousands of pines and two rivers, one light and one brown that come together in one. Dozens of ponds and waterfalls dot the entire route of this river.
It's an amazing place to camp for some days.
I hope that one day you will have the opportunity to visit the Canary Islands and especially La Palma.
Enjoy this prestigious place with this photograph.
This photograph is the composition of 6 photographs in a panoramic.
